Long Time Member, Audrey Simpson, Passes Away

The Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling is saddened by the loss of long time member, Audrey Simpson, on Saturday, January 14. She was 87. Audrey and her late husband, Peter, were long time members of the club. On behalf of the executive, directors, and members of the club, our heart felt condolences to Audrey's family.

Mrs. Audrey Ruth Simpson beloved wife of the late Mr. Peter Simpson passed away surrounded by her family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the age of 87 years.  Audrey is lovingly survived by her children; Nancy (Bob)Webster and their children, Rob, Rick (Sherry), Raylene, Robin Braconnier and her children, Ryan, Spencer, Shelby; Rachaelle (Terry) Fode, and their children, Regan, Treydon, Taija;  Audrey Heidinger and her children, Carol (Dion)Fernetti and their children, Carlee, Nathaniel;  Cheryl (Brent)Noble and their children, Ashley, Dillion, Emelia;  Francis Demaris;  Wendy Hughes and her children,  Kim (Galin)Kerkhoff and their children, Logan, Kate, Adam;  Kelly(Wes) Hughes and their children, Ethan, Kyla, Abbie, Hailey;  Kevin Hughes;  Penny (Robert)Gaetz and their son Kyle;  Peter (Naomi)Simpson and their children, Phoenix Simpson (Jorge Espinosa) and their son, Diego;  Madison Simpson and her son, Riley;  Peter Simpson;  she is also survived by one sister, Eleanor (Herb) Mantle.  Audrey was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter on April 22, 1990 and her parents, Louis & Bessie Hopper.  Audrey married the love of her life, Peter Marnoch Simpson in Prince Rupert, B.C., on May 7, 1943 while he was stationed at the HMCS Base Chatham.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother (affectionately known as GG).  Some of Audrey’s favorite activities were Lawn Bowling, I.O.D.E., Curling and the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary where she held the office of President from 1975-1976.  She was an active member for many years including numerous hours volunteering in the Ladies Auxiliary Gift Shop in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.  Audrey enjoyed many special occasions which included family BBQ’s, camping, trips South with Dad, reading, knitting and crossword puzzles.  The Funeral Service will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, Gerry Getz officiating.
